The Applicant, under direction from an Area Manager and/or Project Manager, manages the daily operations of the affected facility, including, with supervision, managing the scope, schedule, and budget of the facility in accordance with contract requirements.
The Applicant will schedule, coordinate, direct, and supervise daily operations and activities at the treatment facilities and pump stations. Activities include the operation and monitoring of any collection system and all associated components, daily inspection of operating sites, maintaining communications with project personnel, preventive maintenance activities and data entry and report generation, including preparing the DMR and Monthly Operating Report. He/she will monitor and control assigned budget elements to ensure cost-effective service to meet budget, and will serve as the liaison with the project staff and management.
Qualifications:
• Applicant will possess proficiency with computers, including an ability to work with SCADA, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Maintenance Management Programs.
• The Applicant will comply with all company Health and Safety procedures and policies.
• High School Graduate or Equivalent.
• Minimum five years of professional experience in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment facility is desired. Applicant must be able to understand and follow compliance standards.
• Applicant must demonstrate an ability to communicate well with the Area Manager, Project Manager and the Applicant’s peer group.
• Applicant must possess and maintain, as a minimum, a valid Massachusetts Grade IV WWTPO License.
• Applicant must possess a valid Driver’s License.

Job Description:
Regularly participates in the daily operations and maintenance of the Water Treatment and Distribution Systems as directed by the Project Manager. Participates in an on call rotation on weekends, holidays and outside normal workday hours. Will be required to respond to emergency or unpredicted situations.
Qualifications:
• High School or trade school diploma is required, an Associate's Degree is preferred; one to three years experience in a water treatment facility operation and maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Massachusetts Water Treatment Plant Operator's License Grade III (minimum) or the ability to obtain through the operator’s exam or reciprocity a must.
• A valid Massachusetts Class D motor vehicle operator's license.
• Working knowledge of the principles, procedures, methods, equipment, materials, and tools employed in the operation' and maintenance of Water Treatment and Distribution Systems.
• Thorough knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions involved in water treatment work.
• Knowledge of computer applications.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply instructions, drawings and specifications for work assigned.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, other personnel, and the general public.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
**Must live within 20 minutes driving distance of plant.

WATER
OPERATOR

The
Town of Rutland Department of Public Works is accepting
applications for a full-time Water Operator to be
employed within the Department of Public Works Water
Division.
Applicants
must have as a minimum, Massachusetts Grade 2 Water
Treatment License, Massachusetts Grade 2 Distribution
License, and a Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator’s
License. A Massachusetts Class B CDL with Air Brake
Endorsement, and Massachusetts Hydraulic License is
preferable, or ability to obtain within six months
of employment. Must have a minimum of five (5) years
experience working with a municipal water system.
Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, nights,
holidays, and shift work under varying weather conditions,
as required.
