Water Storage Tank

Water Storage Tank Inspections and Maintenance

 (MWWA Course ID#: MWWA 14-004)

Water storage tanks are one of the most valuable assets of the water distribution system. Adequate storage capacity, security issues, ice damage and degradation of water quality are just some of the many challenges of proper operation and maintenance of water storage tanks. This half day class will provide students with an understanding of the important aspects of tank inspections and maintenance. Two MA utilities will also share their recent experience with a tank repair project.

 Learning Objectives:

Review AWWA and state standards/guidelines regarding tank design and maintenance;
 Learn how to properly and safely perform tank inspections;
Discuss tank maintenance/repair projects recently undertaken by MA water utilities.

 This course is approved for 2 TCHs (Training Contact Hours) for Massachusetts and Rhode Island Water Operators. It will be taught using the Zoom platform.  Participants will need to have a reliable highspeed internet connection and computer device with both video and audio capability.  Please review our Student Expectations for Attending Virtual Training at  www.masswaterworks.org/education.
