Combined First Aid & Certified Flagger Training

(Course ID: MWWA 24-008 / MA Wastewater: BC-2024-3837)

This training combines a First Aid Course with a Certified Flagger Course. Individuals can sign up for both the First Aid and Flagger sessions or just the Flagger session.  MassDOT requires that certified flaggers have a valid first aid certificate.  Individuals already possessing a valid first aid certificate only need to register for the Certified Flagger session.

This is a new training being offered to address the increasingly difficult situation of securing police details on local roadway projects.  This is especially problematic when emergency repairs are needed, putting the safety of both the public and the utility workers in jeopardy.  Those attending both the First Aid and Flagger sessions with be eligible for 5.0 Training Contact Hours (TCHs).  Those attending just the Flagger session will be eligible for 3.0 TCHs. TCHs are approved for both MA water and wastewater operators. Morning refreshments and lunch will be provided.

Important:

  • A valid First Aid Certificate must presented at the beginning of Flagger Certification Course.  Individuals that already possess a valid First Aid Certificate do not need to attend the morning First Aid session.  The First Aid training being offered in the first session does not provide CPR/AED certification.
  • Certificates can only be issued to those that have paid for the course(s) and pass the required certification exam(s)
  • The use of Certified Flaggers must be coordinated with all local authorities.
