Treat & Meet - City of Haverhill

Join the Emerging Water Professionals as we tour the City of Haverhill's Drinking Water treatment plant.  

• The drinking water treatment plant was built in 1980 and renovated in 2020.
• The plant operates 24x7, has a capacity of 12 million gallons per day, and produces over 2 billion gallons per year on average.
• The city's water is sourced from Kenoza Lake, Millvale Reservoir, Round Pond and Crystal Lake. Kenoza Lake serves as the terminal reservoir and is where the water treatment plant is located.
• Treatment processes for the plant include pre-oxidation, coagulation by flash mixing with static mixers, tapered flocculation, dissolved air flotation, sand media filtration, granular activated carbon adsorption, fluoridation, corrosion control using zinc orthophosphate, and chlorine disinfection.

Following the tour, we will gather at the The Peddler's Daughter Irish Restaurant & Pub for some light bites and drinks.  MWWA will provide the food, you will be on your own to purchase drinks.
