Concepts and Practices of
Basic Drinking Water Treatment
(Zoom)

For Grade T2

Tuesdays, Sept. 22 – Dec. 15, 2026
(No class the week of Nov. 9)

This is a 12-week state-approved course that is being taught remotely using the Zoom format. The course is designed to provide students with the general concepts of drinking water treatment processes . Taking and passing this course is a prerequisite for taking the Massachusetts Grade 2 Drinking Water Operator Treatment License Exam.

Participants will meet using Zoom for 3 ½ hours each week to learn the following concepts: source water protection & management, hydrology, basic math and chemistry, regulations, water sampling & analysis, hydraulics, treatment processes, equipment operation and maintenance, safety, and administrative duties. (Note: basic math knowledge is required for this course. Individuals not comfortable with math concepts should consider taking a math course before taking this course.)

Location:  Remote, Online, with Zoom

(not including books = $200 and delivery fee = $20)

• This remote online course has been approved by the Mass. Board of Certification of Drinking Water Operators.

• All participants must have access to a computer with a camera and microphone throughout the entire class.  (Computers without audio can connect to the audio via a telephone).  

• You will receive a confirmation email approximately one week before the course to confirm your registration and give you log in instructions for the class.

• We will offer an optional Zoom practice session will be held on Monday, Sept 21 at 8:00 AM for anyone not familiar with Zoom. Instructions for attending the Zoom practice session will be sent to all students 1 week prior to the start of the course.
